How to become happy and succesful?

Hello,

Have you thought about how to become happy and successful? I have, alot.

I have been striving to become happy and successful all my life, and I thought that happiness would come automatically with success. Recently I have discovered that the two doesn’t have anything to do with each other, and that happiness and success is connected very closely. Seem logical, right? I also found out that the reason for me seeking success was to get recognition and praise. We all want to feel appreciated and loved, no matter if we are kids or if we are adults. Earlier when I was studying to become a sports coach, I often practised my lessons learned on my colleagues at work. Worked just as good on them as on the kids I was coaching.

What makes happiness and success connect is that they both depend on your own perception and definition of happiness and success. They also relate in influencing feelings of each other. When you feel succesfull, happines overwhelms you. And when feeling happy a sense of success creeps up and fills you.

But happiness doesn’t have anything to do with success because you can be happy without success, and you can be successful without being happy.

It is here that it starts to become interesting, since all my strive for success might not affect my happiness at all. What a failure it would be to become successful but unhappy. But what is most important here? To be happy? To be successful? Or both? Well that depends on how we define success and happiness.

What is success? Actually, no more than your own perception of the goals and expectations you have of your life.

What if we changed these goals and expectations to become a little bit more realistic? What if you had more goals and more milestones along the way that was easier to achieve? Would that not make you have more to celebrate, more to feel successful about?

What is happiness? Actually, no more than your own feeling of gratitude, satisfaction and love.

What if we could practice to become more thankful to what we have, to be more content to what we accomplish and to take responsibility for whatever happens to us.

And is it really the goal you are after? Or is it the journey getting there that will give you the most?

My suggestion is to start small with every decision you make and weight it on a scale of positive versus negative. Will this decision have a positive or negative effect on my life in the long run, as Jeff Olsen describes in his book “the slight edge”?

The slight edge

Then continue by viewing and realizing everything as it is, find your purpose and begin to determine outcomes for everything you do. It is hard to find your way if you don’t know where you are heading… More about this can be found by reading books and watching seminars by Tony Robbins.

And then as small successes starts to happen, try to visualize what you really want and get inspiration from the film or book “the secret“.

Start feeling how everything in life is about you, and how you can start spreading your message like rings on water. And by doing so helping others and creating both happiness and success for yourself.

Take care…
