Useful golden phrases
Communication is important, but it takes skill to master. Today I am going to let you cheat a little by giving you some phrases that can help you in many everyday situations.
For instance, when you really want something or want
someone to respond in a positive way, try this:
“Would it be ok if…”
Sometimes you just don’t know what to say, or how to respond. For me, this becomes a fact when I get angry or frustrated. So, If someone makes you a stupid comment or blames you for something, you need to have some easy phrases to buy time and to easy down. Here are some examples:
“That’s Interesting, tell me more?”
“That’s Interesting, why would you say something like that?”
“That’s Interesting, why would you do that?”
“That’s Interesting, why would you ask me that?”
By using these simple questions you toss the dice back at them, which often get them out of balance, and at the same time get you a moment to think and to cool down.
Another situation can be when you ask someone a question and they start ramble about something completely different. Instead of just saying “ Can you get to the point!” you can easily get them back on track by just saying:
“So, you’re telling me…”
And finish the sentence by repeating the last phrase they said, which will wake them up and get them start thinking about what you really asked them from the beginning.
Last tip here is when you are trying to make a point or want something and the other person just throw some negative comment back at you. The just use one of these phrases and repeat the first message you said again:
“That may be, but…”
“I understand, however…”
“I see your point, and… “
This will make your message really clear and they will soon be out of comments if you repeat it up to three times.
Good luck,
Take care, and practice
